If you did not receive the score you expected, you can apply for your test to be re-marked. This process is called an Enquiry on Results (EOR).

How much does it cost?

  • There is a fee for an enquiry on Aptis test results.
  • The EOR fee will be refunded if your overall CEFR level increases. In this case we will also issue a new Test taker report.
  • The fee will be retained if your overall CEFR level remains the same or it changes in a single component but the overall CEFR level stays the same.
  • You can only ask for re-marking of the entire test, and not for a single component.
    - Grammar and Vocabulary, Reading and Listening components checks are conducted by the system, to ensure components have been marked accurately.
    - Speaking and Writing components are re-marked by senior examiners.
  • You need to apply for a re-marking no later than eight weeks after the test date.
  • You should submit your Enquiry on Results through the test centre where you took your Aptis test.
  • Your results will be available in two to seven days after the remarking has been completed.

What happens if I am still not happy with the re-marked results or my results have been withheld?

If you are unsatisfied with the outcome of the standard EOR process or you are not satisfied with a decision taken by the test centre to withhold your result, you can file an appeal.

Making an appeal after Enquiry on Results (EOR)

The aim of the appeals procedure after the enquiry on results process is to seek evidence and assurance that standard EOR processes have been applied correctly. An appeal does not involve re-marking or re-assessment. However, if it is found that procedures have not been satisfactorily followed, this may result in further re-marking. An appeal will be considered, if you provide reasonable evidence and/or information to support a claim that we did not apply the EOR procedures consistently or that procedures were not followed correctly.

Making an appeal against a withheld result

In the case of an appeal against a decision relating to a withheld result, we will review the evidence which led to the result being withheld, to ensure processes were followed without bias, and that the decision was indeed valid. If it is found that processes were not applied correctly, the result will be released.

How to submit an appeal?

  • You should submit your appeal within 21 working days after you receive the outcome of your enquiry on results or after you receive a notification that your results were cancelled or withheld.
  • In order to submit your appeal, you need to contact the test centre where you took your test and provide the reasons for your appeal in writing together with a proof of payment of the appeal fee.
  • There is a fee for an appeal. You should check with your local test centre what is the fee for your country. If your appeal is successful, we will refund you the full fee.
  • You will receive the outcome of your appeal within ten weeks after your request has been received.
