The Selector Training Sessions CDMX

IN FEBRUARY 2017, THE SELECTOR TRAINING SESSIONS WERE ORGANISED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MEXICO, ON WHICH 6 STUDENTS FROM MEXICAN UNIVERSITIES AND RADIO PROFESSIONALS FROM THE UK TOOK PART.

The Selector is the British Council radio program dedicated to promoting the best of the new British music globally. Broadcasted in more than 43 countries, The Selector has more than 3 million radio listeners.

Besides satisfying our music lover ears every week with the best of the British talent, The Selector also develops and collaborates with different global and local initiatives related to the music industry and the radio.

The Selector Training Sessions Mexico took place last February. On its first edition in the country, six students who were passionate about music and radio were selected to participate in the project, which was realized in collaboration with SAE Institute Mexico and Ibero 90.9 FM, the radio station that broadcasts The Selector in Mexico.

Aline, Pilar, David, Josélo, Arturo, and Fernando had the chance to experience in the flesh what does it take to create a radio program hand in hand with their mentors: Tabitha Thorlu –Bangura (NTS Radio), John Cranmer (Salford University Manchester) and Uriel Waizel (Ibero 90.9).

In only for days, the students participated in turns in live sessions at Ibero 90.9, they recorded a live session with the British artist Johnny Lloyd and they learned directly from The Selector team in Mexico about how to structure their scripts, playlists, and interviews in order to develop basic skills to create their own radio program.
