The British Council Exams Department is looking for individuals to provide external services related to IELTS sessions. We hope to establish long-term co-operation.

Invigilators

Invigilators represent the British Council delivery of the IELTS test in Mexico. They must be dynamic, pro-active, and strongly customer oriented. Our aim is to foster enduring partnerships.

It is also important to have a good working knowledge of computers and technological devices.

Invigilators will indicate their availability in advance and will be offered work based on demand. Flexibility in working hours is expected in order to meet operational needs. Invigilators will be required to attend online training session in order to be able to perform this role.

During the exam sessions, inside and outside the test room, they are responsible for:

• Invigilation of the speaking, listening, reading and writing modules;

• Carry out the registration and verification of candidates' identification according to IELTS guidelines;

• Preparing and handling confidential test material;  

• Responsible for test room security, administration, checking test materials and setting up the exam room. Ensure all electronic equipment is functioning;

• Setting up the exam rooms;

• Seating and assisting candidates with queries.

Invigilators do not have to be native speakers but must have an excellent working knowledge of English to fulfil the function's requirements, to be assessed during the selection process.

The information above applies to potential candidates who live and/or are eligible to work in Mexico. For other countries, you should contact your local British Council office.

Selected candidates will be considered as external individual service providers with no formal employment relationship with the British Council. All freelancer service providers must have a valid SAT "regimen" registered either as Régimen Simplificado de Confianza or Régimen de Actividades Empresariales y Profesionales, to be able to issue a "Factura de Servicios".

Please consider that our invigilators receive MXN 90.00 per hour. Remember that most sessions last between 8 to 10 hours, and all of our venue staff has flexible days to work. We have sessions mostly three times a week, depending on the location, and you tell us whether you are available to work.
